GENERAL OVERVIEW
An academic faculty member at the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences (USAHS) is responsible for delivering engaging, clinically-oriented educational experiences for students pursuing careers in health sciences, utilizing face-to-face, blended, and/or online teaching methods.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintains up-to-date expertise in their subject area.
  • Enhances student achievement through effective engagement strategies.
    • Completes all necessary course management tasks to adhere to program timelines.
    • Develops and presents course materials.
    • Tracks student progress and provides constructive feedback.
    • Encourages student involvement in educational activities.
    • Acts as a liaison between students and the university.
  • Evaluates student outcomes and leverages this data for continuous improvement in teaching and learning.
    • Assesses student performance on assignments, exams, and projects.
    • Communicates with the program director regarding any student challenges or concerns.
    • Ensures uniformity in content and assessments for multi-section courses.
    • Conducts annual self-assessments of teaching effectiveness and sets improvement goals.
  • Ensures course content remains current and aligns with institutional policies.
    • Suggests enhancements for future course offerings.
  • Models professionalism and fosters inter-professional dialogue within and outside the classroom.
  • Collaborates with relevant departments to promote a supportive team atmosphere.
  • Adheres to the university's core values, policies, and procedures.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

May undertake other duties as assigned by management.

REPORTS TO: Academic Program Director

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Experience in distance education is preferred.
  • A terminal degree is preferred; a post-professional master's degree or clinical doctorate with demonstrated clinical expertise may be considered.
  • Prior teaching experience is preferred, including online formats.
  • Experience in scholarly activities is preferred.
  • A minimum of three years of clinical experience in the relevant subject area is required.
  • Familiarity with educational theories and methodologies is essential.
CREDENTIALS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Faculty members must possess appropriate credentials, hold an earned degree from an accredited institution, and be licensed or license-eligible to teach in specific programs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is primarily conducted in a standard office setting, with potential exposure to moderate noise levels. The role involves the use of personal computer equipment for extended periods and includes typical physical demands associated with an office environment, such as walking, standing, and communication.

Contributing Faculty are appointed for specific assignments that may vary by term. Compensation is based on course credit hours, student enrollment, and educational qualifications.

Compensation Range $295 - $10,506.
