Position Overview:

The Nightwing organization is in search of a dedicated and skilled software engineer to contribute to the development of innovative technology solutions for defense applications. This role is pivotal in our Advanced Concepts & Technology (ACT) sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage in collaborative efforts within cross-functional teams, utilizing agile methodologies to design, develop, test, and integrate sophisticated software and systems solutions.
  • Drive the creation and innovation of new technologies and products, overseeing the entire process from architecture and design to integration and testing.
  • Collaborate with a diverse group of professionals nationwide, fostering a culture that values employee contributions and teamwork.
  • Work alongside senior technical contributors to produce comprehensive planning and technical documentation for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develop software requirements based on system-level specifications, and execute design, simulation, analysis, and testing of software components.
  • Stay abreast of the latest trends in microprocessors, memory technologies, and interface protocols.
  • Contribute to an advanced product development team, collaborating closely with system and software engineers.
  • Occasional travel may be required for business purposes.

Essential Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in software design, integration, and testing, or 8 years with a relevant Master’s degree, with proficiency in C, C++, and/or C#.
  • Experience in microprocessor design or system-on-chip software development, including DDR memory and serial interfaces.
  • Proficient in embedded Linux, Windows, or bare-metal real-time applications.
  • Familiarity with bus standards such as VME, PCI, PCIe, VPX, or Gb Ethernet.
  • Experience with Xilinx or Intel/Altera FPGAs or similar technologies.
  • Adept at navigating a fast-paced, dynamic product development environment while collaborating with systems and electrical engineers.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Experience in direct collaboration with customers.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required for this position, as it necessitates obtaining a U.S. Security Clearance within one year of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience across the software lifecycle, including architecture, requirements analysis, design, implementation, verification testing, integration, and maintenance.
  • Skills in digital signal processing design.
  • Background in systems engineering and architecture.
  • Experience with FPGA interfaces.
  • Hands-on lab experience with testing products using logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, signal generators, and debugging tools.
  • Knowledge of signal analysis and generation techniques.
  • Experience in high-speed transceiver software interface design.
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
  • Experience in detailed program planning and implementation.
  • High-end software gaming experience, either as a user or developer.

Educational Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering is required. A Master’s degree in a related field is preferred.
