We are currently seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to enhance our infusion department. Infusion nurses play a vital role in delivering extensive oncology services within an adult outpatient framework. Candidates must possess a valid Nebraska nursing license from an accredited institution and hold current CPR certification. A minimum of three years of nursing experience is required, with a preference for those with critical care or oncology/chemotherapy backgrounds. Strong interpersonal abilities are essential for effective communication with patients, families, and colleagues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer nursing care and deliver prescribed medications and treatments in line with established nursing protocols.
  • Monitor, document, and report on patients' conditions and responses to medications and treatments to the medical team. Provide education to patients and families regarding diagnostic procedures, medications, nutrition, and health maintenance.
  • Oversee and manage all medications and medical supplies, ensuring timely maintenance of equipment.
  • Maintain and review patient records, charts, and relevant information, including posting test results.
  • Respond to patient inquiries related to treatment and provide guidance on medication and treatment protocols.

Qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) with completion of accredited nursing program.
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) or Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) preferred.

Experience:

  • At least one year of professional nursing experience.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Understanding of nursing processes, healthcare systems, and community resources.
  • Familiarity with state nursing regulations and practice guidelines.
  • Proficient in healthcare technology and equipment.
  • Knowledge of medical record documentation requirements and relevant healthcare laws.
  • Appreciation for teamwork and clinic policies related to patient care.
  • Customer service expertise and knowledge of HIPAA and OSHA regulations.
  • Strong command of grammar, spelling, and punctuation.

Core Competencies:

  • Effective time management, problem-solving, and multitasking abilities.
  • Capability to initiate crisis interventions and respond to emergencies.
  • Proficient in patient triage both in-person and via phone.
  • Specialized skills in oncology, particularly in infusion safety.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and confidentiality skills.

Physical and Environmental Requirements:

  • Engage in various activities including sitting, walking, bending, and lifting.
  • Occasional lifting of items up to 50 pounds; ability to assist in patient transfers.
  • Vision must be corrected to 20/20, and hearing must be within normal range.
  • Ability to work with computer screens for extended periods.
  • Exposure to communicable diseases and other conditions typical in nursing.
