Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Surgical Recovery Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our organ donation program, you will play a critical role in facilitating the coordination of recovery events, providing organ preservation, packaging, and delivery services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Independently facilitate and coordinate all aspects of surgical recovery, preservation, packaging, and transportation for organ and tissue donation cases.
  • Assemble, package, and transport preservation supplies and equipment for transportation to donation sites.
  • Collaborate with donor hospital partners to ensure effective operating room setup, instrumentation, and back tables are optimal to facilitate the organ donation process.
  • Utilize sterile technique to assemble sterile supplies and packaging materials on back tables.
  • Facilitate preservation and packaging of organs for transplantation or research in accordance with transplant center requirements.
  • Execute and monitor mechanical preservation of organs by positioning cannula and placement of organs on pulsatile perfusion devices using sterile technique to optimize organ acceptance.
  • Retrieve equipment, including organ pumps and coolers, from transplant centers, ensuring sufficient equipment at all LifeSource facilities.
Requirements
  • Requires a combination of education and experience with a surgical focus of human anatomy and a minimum of one year of experience in a hospital-based operating room environment and with aseptic/sterile technique execution.
  • Designation as a Certified Surgical Technologist, Certified Surgical Assistant, Surgical Technologist, or equivalent preferred.
  • Must maintain a valid driver's license and have reliable personal automobile to be used with company reimbursement using IRS guidelines.
  • Must be able to travel within the LifeSource service area (MN, ND, SD, and a portion of WI) by ground or air, via small charter aircraft, safely during various weather conditions.
