Corporate Accounting Director

About the Role:
The Director of Corporate Accounting will play a critical role in overseeing the company's global accounting operations. This position demands a high level of accuracy in financial reporting, strict compliance with US GAAP, and efficient management of the accounting team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting:
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with US GAAP.
- Lead and oversee monthly close and consolidations process, including revenue recognition, compensation, G&A, intercompany, foreign exchange, and equity.
- Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statement analytics.
- Implement methodologies for allocating corporate costs to reporting segments.
- Oversee the preparation, review, and audit of local country statutory financial statements.
- Manage external audits and ensure timely completion of audit processes.
- Present financial reports and analysis to senior management and stakeholders.
- Provide SEC Reporting support with 10K and 10Q disclosures, including rollforwards and supporting schedules.
- Compliance and Internal Controls:
- Establish, maintain, and enhance internal control policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements, including SEC reporting.
- Implement and monitor internal audits to safeguard company assets.
- Team Leadership and Development:
- Lead and mentor a team of 13 corporate accountants, including 4 direct managers.
- Create a collaborative and high-performance culture that provides professional growth for the team.
- Conduct performance reviews and provide professional development opportunities.
- Strategic Planning and Analysis:
- Provide financial analysis and insights to Executive Management to support strategic decision-making.
- Coordinate the preparation, review, and dissemination of quarterly reports to the Audit & Finance Committee.
- Assist with drafting, implementing, and maintaining financial policies and procedures for company-wide use.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Collaborate with other departments, including Treasury, Tax, FP&A, and Business Operations, to support business growth and operational efficiency.
- Systems and Technology:
- Oversee the implementation and maintenance of accounting software and systems, including PeopleSoft Financials, Oracle Cloud Consolidations, Blackline, and BNA Fixed Assets.
- Ensure data integrity and security within the accounting systems.
- Stay current with technological advancements and recommend upgrades as needed.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- CPA licensure
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role demonstrating strong managerial skills and team development.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and SEC reporting requirements, with hands-on experience in preparing consolidated financial statements and supporting schedules.
- Exceptional leadership and team management skills, with a proven ability to mentor and develop accounting teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, capable of interpreting complex financial data and providing actionable insights.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to present financial information clearly and effectively to senior management.
- High level of integrity and professionalism, with a demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and act ethically.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities in a dynamic environment, showing flexibility and adaptability.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., PeopleSoft Financials) and advanced MS Excel skills.
- Motivated by and thrives in a fast-paced environment with frequent ad hoc requests and changing priorities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- Substantial prior experience in a global public company environment is highly preferred.
- Experience in Big 4 accounting and/or large US public company experience preferred.
