Position Summary:

Service excellence is at the core of our mission at Vail Resorts, and our Ski Patrol team plays a crucial role in delivering this exceptional experience. The Ski Patrol is dedicated to ensuring the safety and security of both staff and guests on the mountain, requiring vigilant and reliable professionals who can maintain composure during emergencies.

Position Specifications:

  • Expected Compensation: $27.94 per hour
  • Work Schedule: Full Time
  • Experience Level: Advanced
  • Additional Requirements: Patrol members must operate at high elevations across various terrains and weather conditions. Candidates must pass an expert-level ski patrol assessment upon hiring; snowboard-only candidates may face restrictions due to safety considerations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Stay informed about and enforce all relevant laws, policies, and procedures to ensure guest safety.
  • Maintain the safety and functionality of trails through proactive measures, including avalanche control, tree removal, and end-of-day mountain closures.
  • Develop, coordinate, and implement emergency response strategies, including evacuations and search and rescue operations.
  • Provide care and assistance to injured guests and staff, including transport via toboggan or airlift when necessary.
  • Transport and set up various mountain safety equipment using skis and/or snowmobiles, including avalanche mitigation tools, chainsaws, and first aid supplies.
  • Support training and ongoing education initiatives.
  • Perform other assigned duties as needed.

Job Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Wilderness First Responder (WFR) certification required.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • 3-5 years of prior patrol experience preferred.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, holidays, and weekends.
  • Capability to utilize all senses effectively.
  • Ability to lift and transport 50 to 100 pounds with or without assistance.
  • Ability to frequently walk, stand, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and reach in various climate conditions and at high elevations.

The expected pay range is $27.94 per hour. This reflects the anticipated compensation for this role, with individual decisions based on various factors.
