Position Summary:
The Industrial Coating Specialist will be tasked with the manual blasting of steel and piping within an industrial blast booth, utilizing standard blasting equipment and tools. Responsibilities also include surface preparation and painting using brushes, rollers, and conventional spray pots, in accordance with specifications provided by supervisors or project requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilizes high-pressure sandblasting equipment, chemical applications, power tools, and other abrasive methods to eliminate rust, grease, dirt, concrete, and old paint from surfaces prior to coating.
- Prepares surfaces and applies primer to pipes or steel structures and equipment for subsequent primer and finish coats.
- Sand down rough areas to ensure proper adhesion of finishes.
- Operates within precise accuracy standards.
- Makes informed decisions based on trade knowledge and supervisor guidance.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of experience in industrial painting or blasting, or a combination of vocational training and experience, preferably in a construction setting.
- Ability to multitask, work independently, follow both written and verbal instructions, pay attention to detail, and demonstrate problem-solving capabilities.
- Must successfully pass a post-offer pre-employment drug screening and may be subject to further background checks.
- Adherence to all company policies and procedures is mandatory.
- Must be available to report to various job sites as assigned.
- This is a smoke-free facility; smoking is not permitted during work hours.
Work Environment:
- Work may be conducted in varying temperatures, both indoors and outdoors, including exposure to inclement weather.
- Hearing protection may be required in areas with moderate to high noise levels.
- Respiratory protection may be necessary when working in environments with fumes or airborne particles.
- Work may involve confined spaces or heights.
Physical Requirements:
- Regular use of construction equipment, including heavy machinery and hand tools.
- Ability to perform tasks that involve climbing, bending, pulling, reaching overhead, standing or walking for extended periods, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Frequent use of hands for handling tools and controls, with the ability to identify colors and maintain visual acuity.
Travel Requirements:
- Minimal travel is expected.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior military experience.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
