Durham, North Carolina, United States Credible Full time
Job Overview

About Credible:

Credible operates as a marketplace that empowers users to compare tailored, prequalified rates and quotes from various lenders and insurance providers for student loans, mortgages, personal loans, and insurance products. Our goal is to challenge conventional practices by prioritizing consumer interests. We envision a landscape where 'ethical', 'lending', and 'insurance' coexist harmoniously, leading us to develop innovative platforms that genuinely serve our customers. Our mission is to assist individuals in securing the most favorable loan or insurance options available.

We believe that the process of researching and purchasing loans or insurance should be straightforward and uncomplicated. Therefore, we have designed an unbiased loan and insurance acquisition process that simplifies the search for options.

Position Summary:

Credible is in search of a dependable and detail-oriented editor to join our Content and SEO team. In this role, you will play a vital part in shaping our content strategy, aiding consumers in making informed financial choices by contributing to articles for our media partners. Your primary responsibilities will include editing financial content—such as guides, reviews, SEO articles, and news pieces—ensuring clarity in copy, style, and overall tone while collaborating closely with writers to produce high-quality articles. This position is crucial as we expand our partnerships with various national media outlets. We are committed to ensuring our content is accessible and easy to understand, and we need your expertise to achieve this.

Ideal Candidate:

You are an excellent fit for this position if you possess the following qualities:

  • A genuine passion for content creation and personal finance.
  • At least 2 years of experience in editing personal finance content.
  • A solid understanding of SEO best practices and the elements that contribute to a successful article.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to empathize with consumers and assist them in navigating complex financial decisions.
  • Proactive and capable of working independently.
  • Enthusiastic about working in a dynamic startup environment where there are significant opportunities for ownership and impact.
  • Expertise in student loans is advantageous.
  • Experience collaborating with multiple media partners and adhering to various style guides is a plus.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Edit personal finance articles for both the Credible blog and external media partners.
  • Review content and conduct fact-checking.
  • Optimize articles for SEO by incorporating keywords, visuals, and tables.
  • Collaborate closely with freelance writers and in-house editors to ensure content quality.
  • Assist in creating content briefs for writers based on topic ideas and SEO insights.
  • Support senior editors with additional content projects as required.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and continuously enhance your personal finance knowledge.
Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in editing personal finance content.
  • A Bachelor's degree in English, journalism, or a related field is preferred.
  • Exceptional communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Meticulous attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and project management capabilities.
  • Familiarity with basic HTML and CSS is a plus.
  • Experience with content and task management systems such as Asana, WordPress, and Google Docs is advantageous.
