We are seeking a highly skilled Evaluation Specialist II to join our team at Health Research, Inc. (HRI). The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating disease surveillance and laboratory data quality activities, contributing to the evaluation of HIV/AIDS reports submitted by commercial and public health laboratories to the New York State Department of Health.
Key Responsibilities- Evaluate and monitor HIV laboratory reporting to ensure complete, accurate, and timely reporting.
- Maintain, modify, and develop analytic code to evaluate laboratory data.
- Review laboratory reports, identify deficiencies in the data, and follow-up with laboratories.
- Coordinate activities related to the public health reporting approval process and recruitment of newly permitted laboratories.
- Provide technical assistance to labs on the New York State rules and regulations for reporting.
- Perform data analysis, develop narratives, descriptive statistics, and summarize findings.
- Provide technical assistance to other research projects.
- Contribute to research publications and presentations for the Bureau.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field and two years of experience in the evaluation and/or analysis of health, human services, or related programs and/or fields.
- OR an Associate's degree in a related field and four years of such experience.
- OR six years of such experience.
- A Master's degree in a related field may substitute for one year of such experience.
- Experience in public health surveillance and/or HIV/AIDS surveillance and working with confidential data.
- Experience with analysis using epidemiological principles and methodologies.
- Experience with Microsoft Excel and SAS or other statistical software packages.
- Experience with large, population-based, and other health-related data sets (e.g., SPARCS, ECLRS) or disease registries.
- Grant funded position.
- Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.
- Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. is required.
- Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
- Travel, up to 25% of the time, will be required.
