Denver, Colorado, United States Acord (association For Cooperative Operations Research And Development) Full time

Position Overview
The Acord organization is at the forefront of advancing research in cooperative operations and development, focusing on the intricate biological mechanisms underlying asthma and other complex respiratory and allergic conditions.

Our mission is to identify distinct pathobiological subgroups of these diseases, known as disease endotypes, and to investigate the genetic, environmental, and immunological factors that contribute to their emergence.

We are achieving these objectives through a combination of genomic endotyping studies involving extensive patient cohorts and in vitro mechanistic investigations utilizing human organoid culture models.

Ultimately, our research aims to inform the development of precision medicine strategies for the diagnosis, management, and treatment of these conditions.

The Acord team comprises a diverse group of experts, including "wet lab" biologists specializing in cellular and molecular biology, alongside "dry lab" computational biologists, bioinformaticians, and statistical geneticists.

We are currently looking for a Bioinformatics Analyst II to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in bioinformatics, computer science, computational biology, biostatistics, or statistical genetics.

Key Responsibilities:
- Engage in studies utilizing high-throughput bulk and single-cell expression data to investigate the molecular pathways associated with disease.
- Analyze eQTL and other omics data to uncover the genetic and functional underpinnings of these pathways.
- Develop and implement data processing pipelines and workflows, manage data, conduct statistical analyses, and create visualizations to communicate findings effectively.
- Contribute to the drafting and preparation of manuscripts for publication.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Arts (BA) or Bachelor of Science (BS) in bioinformatics, biostatistics, computer science, or a related field is required.
- Demonstrated experience in writing custom scripts and utilizing standard bioinformatics tools and databases for high-throughput genetic and genomic data analysis.
- Proficiency in shell scripting and familiarity with UNIX/LINUX environments.
- Experience with high-performance computing for data analysis.
- Proficient in one or more programming languages (e.g., R, Python, Perl, Java, C++) and a willingness to learn new languages as needed.
- Understanding of statistical analytical concepts and methods.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s or Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Statistical Genetics, Computational Biology, or a related field.
- Experience with bulk RNA-sequencing data processing and analysis (e.g., HISAT2, HTSeq, Samtools, DESeq2).
- Experience with single-cell RNA-sequencing data analysis (e.g., Cell Ranger, Seurat, Monocle).
- Familiarity with eQTL mapping and dimensionality reduction techniques.

Core Competencies:
- Strong accountability and commitment to organizational success.
- Attention to detail in all aspects of work.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Initiative in taking action to achieve objectives and manage projects efficiently.

Benefits:
At Acord, we value our dedicated faculty and staff as the cornerstone of our organization. We offer a comprehensive benefits package designed to support the health and well-being of our employees and their families.
