Job Description:


The Community Engagement Coordinator will play a vital role within the Immigrant Health and Cancer Disparities Service (IHCD) in the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.

The IHCD is dedicated to promoting health equity for minority and immigrant communities through outreach, education, training, and research initiatives.

The Coordinator will collaborate directly with the Mobile Health Unit (MHU) and Taxi Network programs, as well as other health fair initiatives, to provide essential information, education, and preventive care services to at-risk populations.

Proficiency in Spanish (both written and spoken) is essential. Candidates should possess strong time management, interpersonal, and communication skills, along with a genuine passion for addressing health disparities. Previous experience in healthcare, community organizing, and health equity is advantageous. This is a full-time role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct outreach at MHU, Taxi, and health fair locations, engaging with participants in healthcare and community environments;
  • Deliver services directly to community members at health fairs, Taxi, and MHU events, including case management;
  • Connect MHU, Taxi, and health fair participants with culturally and linguistically appropriate resources and services;
  • Assist in the planning, development, and maintenance of outreach partnerships for MHU and Taxi program operations, designing community outreach activities, protocols, and programs in collaboration with the program manager;
  • Build relationships with counterparts in community and religious organizations, as well as healthcare entities, to enhance outreach efforts;
  • Under the guidance of the program manager, contribute to the planning of strategies for community outreach and educational programs targeting specific populations;
  • Establish and sustain a network of cancer organizations, groups, and individuals to promote service programs for MHU and Taxi;
  • Maintain a list of healthcare providers, community, and religious leaders involved with MHU and taxi health fairs to keep them informed about MHU programs and updates;
  • Participate in training programs, workshops, seminars, and disease-specific meetings to stay informed about project objectives and new policies/procedures related to Community Outreach and human subjects' research, as directed by the supervisor;
  • Support the coordination of workshops, screenings, and other events focused on community outreach.

Qualifications:

  • Fluency in Spanish (written and spoken) is required;
  • A genuine interest in health disparities research;
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written;
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team;
  • Strong administrative and computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office and/or REDCap.

Schedule:
Hybrid schedule with 4 days on-site and one remote day. Some weekends may be required.

Pay Range: $25.18-$37.75
