Job Summary

The Center for Justice Innovation is seeking a highly skilled Community Engagement Coordinator to support the Mayor's Action Plan for Neighborhood Safety (MAP) initiative. This role will work closely with residents, community partners, and city agencies to identify and address public safety concerns in designated public housing developments.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in community engagement, organizing, and development, with excellent facilitation and project management skills. They will be responsible for recruiting and managing a diverse resident team, developing and implementing engagement plans, and facilitating resident-led community-building projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Recruit and manage a diverse resident team to support community engagement and organizing efforts
  • Develop and implement engagement plans to create partnerships and gain a solid understanding of key community priorities
  • Facilitate resident-led community-building projects and direct action activities to address and advocate for community needs and concerns
  • Track and evaluate ongoing organizing strategies and provide regular progress reports to stakeholders
  • Build knowledge-base and relationships with local social service providers and NYCHA and City resources to create a strong referral network
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or minimum of 3 years in a related area, preferably community engagement/organizing and/or community development
  • Passion, skills, and experience in working with communities to promote health and safety
  • Excellent facilitation, project management, and analytical skills
  • Ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary environment and create collaborative relationships with colleagues
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
