Overview

AVIAN is in search of a Journeyman Strategic Communications Specialist to deliver comprehensive support to the Naval Air Systems Command's (NAVAIR) F/A-18 and EA-18G Program Office (PMA-265).

You will become part of AVIAN's team of innovative professionals specializing in strategic communications, graphic design, marketing, multimedia production, and more. Our creative team fosters collaboration through constructive peer evaluations, shares professional resources, and regularly convenes for educational development sessions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate communication between the media, squadrons, industry partners, NAVAIR IPTs, and other entities by coordinating with the Program Executive Office public affairs office.
  • Generate and present effective communications for both internal and external stakeholders utilizing Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, and other contemporary industry software.
  • Engage in writing tasks that encompass articles, captions, briefs, presentations, and media strategies, including crisis communication plans, media query responses, key messaging, press releases, feature articles, talking points, and social media content.
  • Provide public relations support, including preparation for senior leadership interviews, media training, event planning and coordination, and activities aimed at promoting or crafting a desired public image for individuals, groups, or organizations.
  • Assist in strategizing multimedia and graphic products, including infographics, illustrations, logos/branding, digital image editing, and publication design.
  • Exhibit flexibility as a team player and self-starter with exceptional organizational skills. The ideal candidate will be capable of functioning both collaboratively and independently, managing competing priorities, and meeting critical project deadlines.
  • Handle multiple tasks simultaneously while demonstrating the ability to travel occasionally.
  • This role is hybrid in nature.

Qualifications

Preferred experience includes writing in Associated Press style, developing and executing mass communication plans, and familiarity with media relations within the Naval aviation acquisition environment. Proficiency in Windows, Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and Adobe Creative Cloud software is essential. Knowledge of military public affairs processes and general DoD military practices is advantageous. Occasional travel is required.

Education: A BA/BS degree along with three to ten years of experience in the communications field. Alternatively, four years of additional work experience may substitute for a bachelor's degree.

Desired Experience: At least two years of experience supporting NAVAIR.

  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense security clearance.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required due to the sensitivity of customer-related requirements.
