Overview
AVIAN is in search of a Journeyman Strategic Communications Specialist to provide dedicated support to the Naval Air Systems Command's (NAVAIR) F/A-18 and EA-18G Program Office (PMA-265).
You will become part of AVIAN's team of innovative professionals specializing in strategic communications, graphic design, marketing, multimedia production, and more. Our creative group fosters collaboration through constructive peer evaluations, shares professional resources, and regularly convenes for educational sessions.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Program Executive Office public affairs office to enhance communication between media outlets, squadrons, industry partners, NAVAIR Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), and other organizations by delivering specialized communication services.
- Generate and disseminate impactful internal and external communications for stakeholders utilizing Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, and other contemporary industry software.
- Engage in writing tasks, including but not limited to articles, captions, briefs, presentations, media strategies, communication plans, crisis response strategies, media inquiries, key messaging, press releases, feature articles, speeches, and social media content.
- Assist in public relations efforts, including senior leadership interview preparation, media training, event planning and coordination, and promoting or crafting a desired public image for individuals, groups, or organizations.
- Contribute to the development of multimedia and graphic products, including infographics, illustrations, branding, digital image editing, and publication design.
- The ideal candidate will be a proactive team player with outstanding organizational abilities, capable of working independently or collaboratively, managing multiple priorities, and meeting critical deadlines.
- Selected candidates should be adept at multitasking and willing to travel occasionally.
- This position offers a hybrid work environment.
Qualifications
Preferred experience includes writing in Associated Press style, creating and implementing communication plans, and familiarity with media relations and the Naval aviation acquisition environment. Proficiency in Windows, Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and Adobe Creative Cloud software is essential. Knowledge of military public affairs processes and Department of Defense practices is advantageous. Occasional travel is required.
Education: A BA/BS degree with three to ten years of experience in the communications field is required. Alternatively, four additional years of relevant experience may substitute for a bachelor's degree.
Desired Experience: A minimum of two years supporting NAVAIR is preferred.
- Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense security clearance.
- U.S. Citizenship is required due to the sensitivity of customer-related requirements.
