Job Summary

The Mechanical Process Engineer is a hands-on, versatile engineer responsible for developing and improving production processes, tools, and equipment in an electronics manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop processes and procedures for high complexity assemblies to meet customer requirements.
  • Design tools, jigs, and fixtures for electro-mechanical assembly processes.
  • Identify opportunities, evaluate, procure, install, and qualify new automation/capital equipment.
  • Lead efforts to improve utilization of existing equipment.
  • Lead Root Cause and Corrective Actions for defects, yield improvement, and escapes.
  • Continuously improve tooling design guidelines and reuse libraries.
  • Lead the validation and verification of new production tooling/fixturing.
  • Ensure all equipment has optimal preventative maintenance defined and establish new procedures.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues, working with internal and external support to resolve issues in a timely manner to minimize production downtime.
  • Collect, analyze, and drive action from manufacturing data.
  • Utilize Design of Experiments to establish new processes and drive improvements to existing.
  • Support production technicians and operators on issues that arise.
  • Lead and support process improvement efforts with the team.

Requirements

  • Engineering Bachelor's Degree or higher in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or related discipline.
  • Customer service-oriented (internal and external) with excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on knowledge of SMT & Through-Hole Soldering, Component Prep, Automated Inspection Systems, Wash & Cleanliness, Electro-Mechanical Assembly, Coating/Staking/Bonding, etc.
  • High proficiency in part constraints, dimensioning, tolerancing, and GD&T.
  • Demonstrated expertise in designing tools and fixtures.
  • 3D Print Experience.
  • Demonstrated experience selecting and qualifying new automated/capital equipment.
  • Practical knowledge of equipment and process qualification using IQ, OQ, PQ, or similar.
  • Demonstrated experience setting up and executing DOE's.
  • Deep understanding of SPC and manufacturing data analysis.
  • Strong understanding of material science as it relates to material selection, solder, flux, adhesives, etc.
  • Experience in an ISO9001 / AS9100 / ISO13485 certified quality management system.
  • Working knowledge of IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, IPC 7711/7721, IPC-A-600, and/or ANSI/ESD S20.20.
  • Proficiency in business systems such as MES, PLM, ERP, MRB.

Compensation

Up to $90,000 per year, depending on skills and experience.
