Private Chef for Japanese Fine Dining Experience

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced private chef to join our team at Plate NYC. As a private chef, you will be responsible for preparing a variety of Japanese-inspired dishes using fresh seafood and vegetables. The ideal candidate will have a background in Japanese fine dining, specifically in Kaiseki or Edomae sushi, and will be able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare 1-2 meals daily, with leftovers to use as lunch the next day
  • Do prep work, breakdown and processing of fresh ingredients
  • Keep fridge stocked with healthy snacks
  • Do menu planning
  • Manage ordering and relationships with suppliers
  • Ability to do basic macronutrient tracking

Requirements
  • 3+ years of experience as a chef
  • Background in Japanese fine dining (Kaiseki or Edomae sushi)
  • Knowledge of seafood prep (fish cleaning, wet and dry aging, parasite safety)
  • Willingness to experiment and teach others
  • Willingness to cook a heart-healthy diet (low in saturated fat, processed carbs)
