The Phlebotomy Procedural Specialist is responsible for planning, organizing, and delivering training programs for phlebotomy services across the Bozeman Health System. This includes Bozeman Health main campus, BSMC, Belgrade, and other off-site Lab locations. The successful candidate will work closely with Bozeman Health and community resources to maintain qualified staffing levels.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement phlebotomy training programs for new hires, annual competencies, and on-demand training in response to equipment/supply changes, regulatory updates, safety concerns, errors, or customer feedback.
- Provide education and training to Bozeman Health employees on phlebotomy techniques, ensuring compliance with Bozeman Health policies, procedures, protocols, and State/Federal regulatory guidelines.
- Participate in quality management of phlebotomy services, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
- Perform phlebotomy services, including collecting blood specimens via venipuncture in in- and out-patient settings, finding orders, receiving specimens, performing EKGs, and collecting DOT drugs-of-abuse specimens.
- Associate's degree in science or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- American Heart Association BLS certification within 3 months of hire.
- Two years of related laboratory/phlebotomy experience.
- Customer service experience in a healthcare or retail setting.
- Driver's license.
- Bachelor's degree in MT, CLS, or Laboratory Science.
- ASCP or equivalent Phlebotomy Certification.
- Urine Drug Screen Collection Certification (DOT) and Breath Alcohol Testing Certification (DOT).
