**Job Summary:**

The Occupational Therapist - Patient Care Specialist will perform patient evaluations and re-evaluations, establish patient treatment plans based on physician referrals, and document patient care. The successful candidate will provide leadership to Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants, Students, Rehab Aides, and Volunteers, and demonstrate the philosophy and mission of Mercy Health.

**Essential Functions:**

  • Reviews physician referrals, patient conditions, and medical histories to determine occupational therapy treatment needs.
  • Performs and documents patient evaluations, re-evaluations, and develops treatment and discharge plans.
  • Plans and administers medically prescribed occupational therapy treatments to patients.
  • Designs and constructs special equipment for adaptation of individual work and living environments.
  • Plans programs involving activities, practice in functional, pre-vocational, vocational, homemaking skills, activities of daily living, and sensory motor activities.
  • Modifies treatment goals and plans of care as appropriate and involves patient care conferences as needed.
  • Instructs patients and families in treatment procedures to be continued at home.
  • Responsible for overall management of patient cases, including communication and coordination of care with treatment teams.
  • Precepts in the direction and evaluation of clinical experience/internship of students from participating colleges or universities.
  • Orients, instructs, and directs the work activities of assistants, aides, students, and volunteers.
  • Stays abreast of current developments and new technology in occupational therapy.
  • Demonstrates behaviors consistent with Mission and Core Values, adheres to standards and policies, laws, and regulations, and demonstrates the ABC's of Mercy Health Culture.

**Employment Qualifications:**

Required Minimum Education: 4-year/Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy

**Licensure/Certification Required:**

Licensed in State of Ohio PT/OT/AT Board

**Licensure/Certification Preferred:**

CPR Certification

**Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:**

Required: Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively interact with co-workers, physicians, patients, and families. Analytical abilities to evaluate patient conditions, capabilities, and progress. Complies with all applicable laws and regulations and practices.
