About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Engineer to join our ADGE Department, leading mechanical design, development, and integration of platform systems. This includes shelter systems, hardware integration, cable & interconnections, as well as facility development, and site integration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform mechanical design, development, and documentation of components, sub-assemblies, and major end items for defense system equipment in accordance with system requirements.
  • Mechanical design, development, and documentation of cables, harnesses, and connectors to meet defense system requirements.
  • Key contributor to small to mid-sized cross-functional teams as a technical lead through all phases of development from proposal generation, program start up, requirements allocation, preliminary and detailed design development, and production.
  • Hands-on lead and mentor to the engineering team as a technical expert within the integrated product team environment.
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines, non-technical disciplines, and suppliers to develop robust design solutions and resolve technical challenges.
  • Work with limited supervision and meet technical, schedule, and monetary commitments.
  • Participate in design peer reviews and conduct trade studies to promote sound technical decisions.
  • Apply knowledge and experience in technical problem-solving and hardware development in an engaged team environment.
  • Engage in personal technical growth and facilitate technical growth in peers and junior engineers.
  • Take an active role in understanding what opportunities are needed to mature the organization on the technical front.
  • Drawing generation, drawing release, and drawing change incorporation.
  • Working with manufacturing and suppliers to evaluate technical change requests.
Requirements
  • Typically requires Bachelor's degree and 8 years of prior relevant experience OR in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience is required.
  • Experience designing cables, harnesses, and connectors for defense or commercial systems.
  • Experience with MIL-Spec Fiber Optic and Radio Frequency cables, assemblies, and/or connectors.
  • Experience using Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
