The Vocational Rehabilitation Consultant (VRC) plays a crucial role in delivering rehabilitation services and medical case management to individuals recovering from workplace injuries. This position involves collaboration with various stakeholders, including clients, insurers, healthcare providers, employers, and legal representatives, all aimed at facilitating the client's prompt return to meaningful employment.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients to evaluate their level of disability and determine eligibility for vocational rehabilitation services. Develop tailored job goals that align with clients' interests, skills, and physical capabilities, while also supporting the objectives of the Case Management department. Provide job placement assistance to injured workers, which includes:
  • Job Seeking Skills Training
  • Resume creation and mock interview preparation
  • Development of personalized job goals
  • Vocational Testing, including Aptitude and Interest Assessments
  • Transferable Skills Analysis and Employability Assessments
  • Exploration of retraining options and employment counseling
Perform labor market research, including conducting Labor Market Surveys and analyses. Maintain effective communication with clients and stakeholders through various channels. Prepare detailed reports in a timely manner. Document all case-related activities accurately. Fulfill ongoing educational requirements as mandated by relevant certifying bodies. Participate in committee meetings, customer service initiatives, and instructional programs as needed. Additional responsibilities as assigned.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Strong multitasking abilities in a dynamic, fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Proficient in interacting with claims personnel, attorneys, healthcare providers, and clients. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Ability to meet deadlines consistently. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel. Excellent interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills. Capable of working independently as well as collaboratively within a team.

Education and Experience:

A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Rehabilitation Counseling or a related field. Registration as a Qualified Rehabilitation Consultant (QRC) with the relevant state department or the ability to obtain such registration. Potential to achieve CRC or CDMS Certification. Familiarity with Managed Care or Workers' Compensation is preferred. Bilingual capabilities, particularly in Spanish or other languages, are advantageous. Background as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Occupational Therapist (OT) is a plus.
