Role Overview
In the capacity of a Principal Engineer specializing in Identity, you will spearhead the design and execution of platform systems associated with authentication, authorization, Identity and Access Management (IAM), and customer identification within products.
The ideal candidate will possess a robust history of developing and deploying identity platforms that are functional, secure, scalable, and dependable. Working within a compact team in a dynamic environment, this position demands both intellectual agility and hands-on technical expertise. Proficiency in coding is essential for success in this role. Key Responsibilities
- Direct the architecture and deployment of identity and access management solutions for customer-centric products, ensuring smooth authentication and authorization for users.
- Collaborate with product teams to integrate identity solutions into both new and existing applications, aligning with product specifications and user experience objectives.
- Design and implement secure authentication (AuthN) and authorization (AuthZ) frameworks to bolster security and user-friendliness.
- Manage user identity data while adhering to privacy laws and best practices.
- Resolve complex issues, provide technical leadership, and serve as a Subject Matter Expert.
- Lead or participate in troubleshooting and resolution of high-severity incidents.
- Create comprehensive architecture, standards, design, and implementation documentation.
- Collaborate with platform teams and fellow Principal Engineers to shape the future of Identity.
- Plan and oversee project tasks, timelines, and resources related to identity solution implementations.
- Assist the team in developing and maintaining quality documentation concerning identity platform deployments and operations.
Hybrid: Employees split their time between in-office and remote work, with a minimum expectation of in-office presence.
Qualifications
Basic Requirements
- 15+ years of experience as a Software Engineer or Architect with a focus on authentication or authorization.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, Informatics, or a related field.
- Proficient in designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise identity technologies such as OAuth 2.0, OpenId Connect, SCIM, FIDO, SAML2, and Zanzibar.
- Experience in Distributed Systems Design and building Identity platforms from the ground up.
- Familiarity with Cloud Identity Solutions, such as Azure.
- Knowledge of security best practices including least privilege, privileged access management, and passwordless authentication.
- Experience with AWS, Azure IAM, and Auth N and Auth Z.
- Experience working with distributed systems.
- Comprehensive understanding of Authentication, Authorization, and Auditing in relation to Identity and Access Management.
