Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Executive Director to lead our SAG-AFTRA Nashville Local. As the chief executive, you will be responsible for administering the business affairs of the local, including budgeting, staff management, compliance, and member outreach.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversight and management of all aspects of the SAG-AFTRA Nashville Local operations, including budgeting, staff management, compliance, and member outreach.
  • Leads and/or supports negotiations of Local collective bargaining agreements.
  • Resolves complex issues and disputes with performers, agents, and studio/producer representatives.
  • Serves as a liaison to all relevant member committees.
  • Oversees the administration of the Union's contracts covering members employed in commercials, feature and independent films, corporate-educational programs, interactive games, television/radio programming, and other work that may be covered by SAG-AFTRA contracts.
  • Establishes and maintains regular communication with SAG-AFTRA members.
  • Works closely with the local board and organizing department to develop and carry out internal and external organizing efforts.
  • Manages the physical office in Nashville, including oversight of the building, parking areas, and any facility tenants.
  • Develops, maintains, and leverages strategic relationships with industry stakeholders and strategic partners in the Local's jurisdiction.
  • Leads, assigns, or otherwise takes part in legislative advocacy efforts in connection with the state's film tax credit program and other legislative matters that may affect SAG-AFTRA.
Requirements
  • Advanced level of management experience and demonstrated leadership skills required to effectively manage and develop a team and individual contributors.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills in order to explain complex subject matter, promote collaboration and teamwork, build consensus, and persuade others.
  • Demonstrated negotiation and/or collective bargaining skills and fundamental knowledge of federal labor law.
  • Responsible; self-directed; proactive; excellent follow-through.
  • Effective problem solver. Able to mediate disputes and negotiate with tact and diplomacy.
  • Superlative interpersonal skills: high degree of patience and tact. Must be able to cultivate respectful, strategic, and collaborative relationships with people from diverse backgrounds, both internally and externally.
  • Have an understanding and awareness of worker rights impacting SAG-AFTRA members.
  • Hold yourself and others accountable to a high level of performance and integrity.
  • Able to invite, accept, and give constructive feedback.
  • Able to effectively project and manage a budget and other related financial matters.
