Job Summary

The Southcentral Foundation (SCF) Behavioral Health Technician is a key member of a multi-disciplinary care team who facilitates skill development and provides direct care in the milieu for customer-owners in a program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitate and support customer-owner care that is highly interactive and participatory, allowing customer-owners to build, share, and express knowledge through open dialogue around issues or problems with a focus on customer-owner outcomes.
  • Ensure a safe and supportive treatment environment, providing supervision of the customer-owner to meet State of Alaska Licensing regulations.
  • Provide progressively more responsible and independent work experiences, with progression between job levels based on demonstrated ability to successfully handle more progressively responsible assignments.
Requirements
  • Three (3) years of experience working in a behavioral health setting; or a combination of education and experience with major coursework and experience in Counseling, Psychology, and/or Social Sciences.
  • At least twenty-one (21) years of age.
  • Must meet the following conditions to qualify as an approved SCF driver: valid Alaska driver's license, no more than three (3) moving traffic violations, and no 'Driving Under the Influence' (DUI); or 'Driving While Intoxicated' (DWI); or 'Operating Under the Influence' (OUI) violations.
Additional Qualifications for Behavioral Health Technician II
  • Two (2) additional years of professional and supervised social service or related work experience working in a residential behavioral health setting; or equivalent combination of education and experience; or demonstrated proficiency as a Behavioral Health Technician I at SCF.
