Job Title: Medical Billing Specialist
About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Billing Specialist to join our team at Alaska Behavioral Health. As a Medical Billing Specialist, you will be responsible for submitting client billing charges and batching submissions for all payer types.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process weekly Medicaid remittance advices (RAs) and Medicare and commercial insurance EOB's.
- Post payments to client accounts and transfer balances to other payer sources as appropriate.
- Verify initial prior authorization (PA) information submitted by providers and scan processed PAs into the department's internal system.
- Research all denials and initiate claims resubmissions, as well as appeals when necessary.
- Review monthly client statements with outstanding patient balances for accuracy and research outstanding balances.
Requirements:
- Three or more years of Medical billing experience required, with at least 2 years of experience working in a high volume billing department preferred.
- At least 2 years of experience working in a computerized billing department required.
- Billing/coding certification preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, and understand the English language.

- Full-Time, Hourly position with a pay range of $19.23 to $24.89 hourly depending on experience.
- Eligible for an annual incentive opportunity of up to $6,000.
