About the RoleAs an Emergency Veterinary Technician, you'll play a vital role in providing top-notch care to our patients in a fast-paced and exciting environment. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring the smooth operation of our emergency department, from pre-procedure prep to patient monitoring and recovery.
Key Responsibilities- Assess patients and prepare them for procedures, ensuring a seamless experience for both patients and staff.
- Administer anesthesia and monitor patients' vital signs, making adjustments as needed to ensure their safety and comfort.
- Collaborate with our team to develop and implement anesthesia protocols, ensuring the highest level of care for our patients.
- Perform routine maintenance on anesthesia equipment and troubleshoot any issues that may arise.
- Advocate for patients' well-being and comfort, implementing and maintaining protocols for pre-anesthetic patient assessment and post-anesthetic recovery.
- Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) or equivalent certification preferred.
- 1-2 years of nursing experience in a veterinary setting, preferably in an emergency, urgent care, or specialty/referral practice.
- Strong knowledge of critical care nursing and emergency protocols.
- Skilled in venipuncture, IV catheter placement, anesthesia monitoring, medical math, drug calculations, and other technical skills.
- Attention to detail, with a focus on accuracy, especially in critical moments.
- Ability to perform CPR and other lifesaving procedures.
- Excellent communication and people skills.
