Job Overview

JSat Automation Inc is seeking a Senior Automation and Validation Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role involves significant collaboration with clients, requiring travel to various sites up to four days a week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of manufacturing control systems to enhance process operations.
  • Collaborate with client teams to identify opportunities for continuous improvement through automation enhancements.
  • Oversee or assist in projects as the primary controls expert.
  • Create validation documentation in accordance with FDA cGMP and GAMP standards, including functional specifications and design requirements.
  • Design, program, test, and validate automation systems for process control.
  • Prepare and execute validation protocols to ensure compliance with 21 CFR Part 11 regulations.
  • Manage documentation and implementation of upgrades through established change control procedures.
  • Supervise on-site project resources, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Develop and implement technical solutions by establishing integration strategies and configuring automation hardware.
  • Manage capital projects, including software development, hardware design, network architecture, and process equipment installations.
  • Conduct troubleshooting and resolution of field control system issues.
  • Develop and execute automation qualification and validation protocols.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Computer Science, Electronics, Electrical, Chemical, etc.) or equivalent experience, with over five years in the process industry.
  • Strong understanding of ISA-88 and ISA-95 standards.
  • Extensive experience with the Ignition SCADA platform and MQTT Sparkplug technology.
  • Proficient in the following technical areas:
    • Ignition Core Modules (including Perspective, Alarming, SQL Bridge, Reporting).
    • Allen-Bradley PLC systems (ControlLogix, CompactLogix, Micro800 series).
    • Management of VMware ESXi, Linux, and Windows virtual machines.
    • Experience with Docker containers and managing containerized applications.
  • Preferred skills include programming in Python, C#, and NODE-RED.
  • Gold Certified Ignition Engineer status is preferred or in progress.
  • Experience in the life sciences sector is advantageous.
  • Able to work on-site a minimum of four days a week.
  • Project management experience is a plus, along with process knowledge.

Salary is dependent on experience: The compensation range for this position is $125k - $150k annually, with variations based on the candidate's relevant knowledge, skills, and experience. This figure excludes additional benefits such as health coverage and vacation.
