Hardware Validation Engineer

At Apple, we're looking for a skilled Hardware Validation Engineer to join our Watch system validation team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring that all new and existing hardware features are fully validated both on the bench and in our system stress rack.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead bench validation efforts, identifying key issues during the prototype phase and driving improvements in system design.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams from various disciplines to define validation coverage and resolve issues.
  • Develop and execute scripts for the system stress rack to ensure the full system's stability under worst-case conditions, maintaining comprehensive coverage of stress patterns for all features.
Requirements:
  • Hands-on experience in board level bring up and validation for a product system or silicon IC development board.
  • Strong familiarity with test & measurement equipment (oscilloscopes, probes, DMMs, VNAs, power analyzer, etc.) and high-fidelity signal probing techniques.
  • Understanding of how to validate system-facing aspects of an IC in a board design: power delivery, host interfaces (USB, MIPI, I2C, SPI, UART, SPMI, PCIe), control signals, power rail sequencing.
  • Basic understanding of Signal Integrity.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills — the ability to summarize and organize information for large forums.
  • Minimal travel, but must be willing to travel a few times a year to support factory builds.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Typically requires at least 5+ years of experience. More senior level candidates can take on additional responsibilities.
  • Scripting in Python or similar language for test automation.
  • Experience performing PCB schematic and layout reviews to ensure specification compliance.
  • MS or BS Degree in technical discipline.
What We Offer:

At Apple, we offer a comprehensive compensation package, including base pay, discretionary bonuses, and commission payments. You'll also receive benefits such as comprehensive medical and dental coverage, retirement benefits, and a range of discounted products and free services. Additionally, you'll have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in our discretionary employee stock programs.
