We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Motor Vehicle Technician II to join our team at the Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing skilled mechanical work on vehicles, including engine repairs, transmission work, and brake maintenance. Your attention to detail and ability to work independently will be essential in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our fleet.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on vehicles, including oil changes, tire rotations, and brake pad replacements.
  • Diagnose and repair complex mechanical issues with engines, transmissions, and other vehicle systems.
  • Conduct safety inspections and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.
  • Collaborate with other team members to achieve departmental goals and objectives.

Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a mechanic or in a related field.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to obtain a commercial driver's license (CDL) within 6 months.
  • Knowledge of diesel and gasoline engine powered equipment and ability to perform routine maintenance and repairs.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
