The primary objective of this role is to ensure the safe transportation of residents to various appointments and activities outside the facility.
Key Responsibilities
Transportation Duties
- Safely transport residents to and from scheduled activities and appointments.
- Deliver and pick up items as instructed to support community needs.
- Assist residents in boarding and alighting from the vehicle, ensuring their safety with appropriate equipment and procedures.
- Conduct daily inspections and maintenance of the community vehicle, including checking fuel, oil, coolant, air pressure, and lights, as well as maintaining cleanliness inside and out.
- Report any transportation-related issues or concerns to the Life Enrichment Director or Executive Director.
- Provide assistance in lifting heavy items, equipment, or supplies, adhering to safety protocols.
- Support activities in other departments when not engaged in driving duties.
- Participate in training programs to comply with state and federal regulations.
Ability to make independent decisions, follow directions, and accept constructive feedback. Capable of interacting tactfully with staff, residents, family members, visitors, and the general public. Must be comfortable working with individuals who may be ill, disabled, elderly, or emotionally distressed. Proficiency in speaking, writing, and understanding English is essential for effective communication with supervisors, colleagues, residents, and families.
Education and Experience
A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
A driving record that complies with the facility's vehicle use policy.
Licensing and Certifications
Must hold a current driver's license with the necessary endorsements or the ability to obtain them.
Physical Requirements
All requirements are subject to modification to reasonably accommodate individuals with disabilities. Candidates who pose a direct threat to the health and safety of themselves or others will not be considered qualified for employment if physical requirements cannot be adjusted.
