Position Summary: The Peer Navigator will function as an integral member of our team, providing essential peer recovery support to individuals in various settings, including outpatient and residential environments. This role will also encompass serving as a mentor, advocate, and source of motivation for individuals in recovery, along with their families and allies, to foster long-term recovery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct Care of Recovery Services (70%):
    • Guide individuals through the treatment process upon their entry into services.
    • Collaborate with individuals and their case managers to develop and implement a personalized Recovery Wellness Plan.
    • Assist individuals in identifying their recovery goals and strengths, formulating strategies for achievement.
    • Provide advice and support throughout the recovery journey.
    • Accompany individuals to appointments and community resources as necessary.
    • Facilitate connections to community resources that align with individual goals.
    • Encourage self-advocacy by ensuring individuals' needs and objectives are prioritized.
    • Engage in crisis intervention alongside clinical staff.
    • Document and communicate any challenges or successes experienced by individuals in their recovery.
    • Promote outreach efforts to raise awareness of the Center's services.
    • Conduct needs assessments for individuals seeking assistance to connect them with suitable services.
  • Administrative Support (20%):
    • Maintain an accurate database of peer activities.
    • Document interactions with individuals in appropriate files and databases.
  • General Responsibilities (10%):
    • Participate in recovery programming initiatives.
    • Establish partnerships with community organizations.
    • Adhere to agency policies and procedures.
    • Attend staff meetings and training sessions as required.
    • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED with at least 1 year of relevant experience.
  • NYS Certified Recovery Peer Advocate (CRPA) or equivalent certification is required.
  • Understanding of the addiction recovery process and respect for individual recovery paths.
  • Familiarity with outpatient treatment systems and peer service models.
  • Strong skills in active listening and motivation.
  • Experience working with diverse populations in addiction services.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic database systems is preferred.
  • Flexibility to work a varied schedule, including weekends.
