Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team at Atlantic Health System. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality respiratory care to patients with cardiopulmonary system deficiencies and abnormalities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate patient information and determine the most suitable method of administering inhalants, precautions to be observed, and modifications that may be needed.
  • Set up and operate devices, such as mechanical ventilators, therapeutic gas administration apparatus, environmental control systems, and aerosol generators to support respiration and maintain patient's oxygen supply.
  • Monitor patient's physiological responses to therapy, such as vital signs, arterial blood gases, and blood chemistry changes.
  • Perform chest physiotherapy on patient to remove mucus from their lungs and make it easier for them to breathe and assist patient in performing breathing exercises.
  • Assist in the performance of diagnostic testing by performing pulmonary function tests to be used by physician in diagnosis of case.
  • Consult with physician in event of adverse reactions.
  • Maintain patient's chart that contains pertinent identification and therapy information.
  • Inspect and test respiratory therapy equipment to ensure equipment is functioning safely and efficiently, and order repairs when needed.
  • Provide patient education and support for patients suffering from chronic lung disease.
  • Demonstrate respiratory care procedures to trainees and other health care personnel.
Requirements
  • Associate of Science degree from an accredited respiratory therapist program, required.
  • Credentialed as a Certified or Registered Respiratory Therapist (CRT or RRT) from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC), required.
  • Active license for Respiratory Care Practitioner in New Jersey, required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. ACLS required within 6 months of employment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum 1+ years of Respiratory Care experience.
  • Critical care experience.
  • Current or past experience with EPIC charting.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
