Job Title: Director of Data

DC Public Charter School Board is seeking a highly skilled Director of Data to lead our agency's data analytics and engineering teams. This is a new role that will bring together our data-focused teams to drive strategic decision-making and improve student outcomes.

About the Role

The Director of Data will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive data strategy that aligns with the organization's mission and goals. This includes setting the direction for data operations, aligning with the organization's Strategic Roadmap and REDI Commitments (Race, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion). The successful candidate will have a strong background in data management, analytics, and engineering, with experience in leading cross-functional teams and communicating complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive data strategy that aligns with the organization's mission and goals.
  • Lead the data analytics and engineering teams to drive strategic decision-making and improve student outcomes.
  • Collaborate with executive leaders to develop enduring data strategies that improve and advance DC PCSB's data initiatives.
  • Provide strategic direction and clear prioritization to data analysts, engineers, and product developers as they build, maintain, and scale data infrastructure and processes.
  • Communicate technical capacity and organizational goals to DC PCSB's executive leadership, translating complex technical jargon into simple language to ensure alignment across the organization.
Requirements
  • 3+ years of management experience with at least 3 or more direct reports.
  • 5+ years of experience in a data-centric environment.
  • Experience working and scaling ETL and business intelligence tools.
  • Experience in developing user-centric design strategies that put end-users first in product decisions.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and cross-functionally, being innovatively disruptive.
