The Head of Behavioral Health Crisis Operations will be responsible for managing one of the five Behavioral Health Crisis Centers (BHCC's) within the Compass Health Network.

This role involves implementing program initiatives, fostering community engagement, establishing and nurturing relationships with key stakeholders, and providing both clinical and operational guidance to the staff at the local BHCC, ensuring that high-quality services are consistently delivered.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – POSITION SPECIFIC

  • Supervise one of the five Behavioral Health Crisis Centers (BHCC), ensuring staff effectiveness and clinical responsiveness
o Implement local BHCC processes and adjust as necessary based on community requirements
o Gather data for internal and state reporting, monitoring for trends and making adjustments as needed
o Submit data to the Senior Director of Crisis Stabilization, as required
o Assist in the recruitment of staff, as necessary
o Explore potential growth opportunities at the local BHCC

  • Build and maintain collaborative partnerships with external organizations/entities/partners as relevant to assigned programs and responsibilities
  • Identify and utilize existing resources within the state to manage patient flow and discharge from crisis centers
  • Collaborate with other regional crisis center directors to address common challenges, share achievements, and support each other as appropriate
  • Ensure the establishment and maintenance of community stakeholder meetings to facilitate feedback, updates, and staffing needs
  • Monitor staff performance indicators (when applicable), patterns of care, duration of stay in programs, appropriate aftercare responses, and treatment recommendations
  • Coordinate with other agencies and internal programs to promote comprehensive care and a unified treatment team response
  • Ensure the availability of a clinically effective 24-hour crisis access for individuals facing a behavioral health emergency, providing alternatives to incarceration and/or hospitalization
  • Conduct regular internal and external meetings for effective communication, workflow management, and clinical consultation. Meetings may include optional or mandatory training sessions as needed
  • Attend relevant internal and external meetings concerning Crisis Stabilization Centers, as assigned
  • Work hours may vary to ensure 24/7 access to care, particularly during the initial phases of each center's operation. Availability by phone for staff support and consultative assistance is required.
  • Manage scheduling and staffing at the designated location
  • Travel within the state for program oversight and occasional training sessions
  • Review documentation for completeness, accuracy, quality, and any peer review considerations
o This includes preparation for a planned employee transition to ensure a seamless handover of responsibilities
