Job Overview

The Architect of the Capitol (AOC) is seeking an experienced Paralegal Specialist to join their team. As a key member of the Office of General Counsel, this role will play a vital part in providing legal support and representation to the Architect and other AOC officials.

Job Description

We are looking for a highly skilled and organized individual to assist attorneys in employment and business law matters. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing legal research, writing, and other duties in support of the attorneys.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drafting a variety of legal documents, including memoranda of law, pleadings, trial briefs, and summonses
  • Citing and checking legal documents, reviewing and analyzing investigative reports, testimonies, interviews, files, and documents
  • Researching cases, law, statutes, regulations, court rules, policies, procedures, legal periodicals, and other legal authorities
  • Providing litigation and administrative support services, handling matters from inception to discovery through appeal
  • Multitasking in a fast-paced legal office, establishing and maintaining successful working relationships with clients and colleagues

Requirements

To be eligible for this position, applicants must have at least 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-07) in the Federal service. This includes having independently drafted legal documents and performed legal research, provided extensive litigation support and case management services, handled litigation and administrative support services, and multitasked in a fast-paced legal office.

Education

Applicants may also qualify for the GS-9 based on education. They must have completed a Master's or equivalent graduate degree, 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree, or an LL.B. or J.D. degree.

Salary Information

The estimated salary range for this position is between $60,000 and $80,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
