Key Responsibilities
  • Compile and prepare relevant materials for attorneys in discovery and motion preparation.
  • Summarize depositions and other transcripts, maintaining case files and performing simple legal research.
  • Review documents for relevance and privilege according to established guidelines and criteria.
  • Assist attorneys in the courtroom and prepare exhibit cross-references.
  • Perform moderately complex legal research, synopsizing transcripts of hearings and oral arguments for attorney use.
  • Identify potentially conflicting statements or areas requiring further investigation and write preliminary drafts of simple legal memoranda and correspondence.
Requirements
  • At least two years of litigation paralegal experience, with trial experience a plus.
  • Sound working knowledge of federal and state court systems, legal research procedures, and legal research resources.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with thorough knowledge of legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw.
  • Hands-on familiarity with computer applications, including word processing, databases, spreadsheets, imaging, and hardware systems.
  • E-discovery procedures and resources, with ability to deliver high-quality work under pressure.
Preferred Skills
  • Spanish speaking ability a plus.
Education
  • Paralegal certificate, JD, or currently attending an ABA-accredited law school, with at least one year of study completed.
