Position Summary:
The Healthcare Access Coordinator plays a crucial role in ensuring efficient patient registration for both hospital and physician services. This position requires adaptability to understand complex healthcare systems and effective communication with patients, healthcare providers, and physician offices to guarantee the accuracy and completeness of information collection.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Patient Registration Duties:
- Meet and exceed productivity benchmarks established by the business line.
- Facilitate patient registration post-clinical triage by verifying health plan coverage.
- Accurately record patient demographics and health plan details.
- Support functions related to access registration, insurance verification, and authorization.
- Engage with physician offices and payers for follow-up on eligibility and authorizations.
- Maintain high-quality scoring and accuracy across all accounts managed.
- Demonstrate the ability to work independently and make informed decisions.
- Ensure timely follow-up on assigned accounts to prevent revenue loss.
- Prioritize tasks effectively with minimal supervision to achieve outlined objectives.
- Serve as a knowledgeable resource for team members.
- Possess a solid understanding of client host system functionalities.
- Document actions taken and next steps for account resolution in the patient accounting system.
2. Compliance and Standards:
- Adhere to federal and state regulations, as well as company compliance policies.
- Maintain precise documentation of all communications and attempts made for accounts in line with company and client specifications.
3. Professional Development:
- Stay informed about and comply with all relevant federal and state regulations governing communications and collections, including HIPAA and FDCPA.
- Participate in training sessions as directed by management and share knowledge with colleagues.
- Integrate new information from training and policy updates into daily operations.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma required.
- At least 1 year of experience in a medical or physician office setting.
- Basic computer proficiency, including MS Office applications: Outlook, Word, Excel.
- Experience with EPIC systems is preferred.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in clinic or hospital registration.
- Knowledge of communication regulations related to HIPAA and TCPA.
- Familiarity with various insurance payers, including Medicare and Medicaid.
- Experience in remote work environments.
