Purchasing Clerk Job Description

The Purchasing Clerk plays a vital role in maintaining the smooth operation of our General Stores areas. This position is responsible for overseeing the ordering, receiving, stocking, and distribution of hospital supplies and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintains knowledge of hospital supplies and equipment, ensuring efficient and effective performance of tasks.
  • Receives and processes incoming supplies and equipment, ensuring accurate documentation and authorized signatures.
  • Interacts with department managers and hospital personnel, responding to inquiries and resolving issues in a timely manner.
  • Utilizes computer systems and office procedures to coordinate documentation, data, and information, ensuring timely communication and smooth operations.
  • Stocks supplies in designated areas, ensuring organization, control, and safety.
  • Fills authorized requisitions, delivers direct shipments, and places warehouse orders in a timely manner.
Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of medical supplies and equipment for all hospital specialties.
  • Ability to maintain flexibility and composure in a constantly changing environment.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Computer literacy and proficiency.
  • Hospital Fire and Life Safety Card (Van Nuys and Hollywood Only).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • One (1) year previous experience working in a warehouse/purchasing clerk role.
  • Knowledge in Inventory Control functions.
