About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Risk and Compliance Manager to join our team at the Metropolitan Government of Nashville & Davidson County. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for assessing and monitoring various investment and non-investment risks for our office and the Metropolitan Government.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage daily risk management function, ensuring compliance with legal and policy requirements.
  • Analyze investment activities and holdings, researching investments in equity, fixed income, and alternative assets.
  • Research derivative assets and hedging activities, serving as a subject-matter expert for public and private investments.
  • Monitor and analyze investment exception reports, managing multiple projects related to investment activities and holdings.
  • Manage investment contract compliance, tracking fee compliance, and performing risk assessments, controls testing, and gap analysis.
  • Review, update, or create desk-level procedures, directing or performing periodic testing of Investment Policy Statements and Cash Management/Liquidity Procedures.
  • Request and review System and Organization Controls (SOC) reports and/or compliance testing by vendors and other parties.
  • Assist in developing written policies, procedures, and correction processes, overseeing and preparing presentations, and attending meetings and workshops as needed.
  • Perform supervisory duties, including assigning and monitoring work, approving leave requests, evaluating and reviewing employee performance, counseling and correcting employees as needed, and interpreting rules and policies.
Requirements
  • Master of Business Administration, Master of Finance, or Master of Economics from an accredited college or university.
  • Eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in risk management and compliance, including experience with fixed income analytics, alternative investments management, and investment consultants, and experience with private equity and/or private credit markets.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional designation in compliance, risk management, and/or financial analysis, such as Certified Financial Risk Manager (FRM), Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Professional Risk Manager (PRM), or Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA).
