Substance Abuse Counselor

We are seeking a dedicated Substance Abuse Counselor to join our team at Wellpath. As a Substance Abuse Counselor, you will provide direct care services to patients with mental, emotional, and substance abuse issues, working closely with the treatment team to fulfill the interdisciplinary treatment process for patients with a dual diagnosis.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct group and individual substance abuse (SA) activities for patients and develop related programs.
- Assess and evaluate patients for co-occurring disorders and determine the level of care required.
- Ensure timely completion of all necessary records and reports.
- Maintain professional development through in-service education and other resources, while complying with Human Resources requirements.
- Show cultural sensitivity, treating each patient as an individual, and considering their cultural background when providing care and treatment.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a social services related field.
- Or Certified in the substance abuse field.
- Or Experience in the substance abuse field.
- Ability to work with computers.
- Ability to work with software used by the department.
- Relevant experience in provision of addiction counseling services.
- Licensed in an addiction counseling specialty (Certified Addiction Counselor, Registered Addiction Counselor, Certified Addiction Professional (CAP)) certification is strongly preferred.
- Certified as a Counselor in Training under supervision or licensed in social work, counseling or psychology.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain CPR certification.
