About the Job

The Manager of Document Management Department is a critical role at Apixio, responsible for overseeing all incoming document hygiene, electronic medical record files, and hospital itemized bills. This position requires strong leadership skills, as the successful candidate will be managing personnel, process workflow, procedures, policies, systems, and resources to ensure department goals and key performance indicators are met.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create, manage, and implement workflow, policies, and procedures to adapt to ongoing changes within the healthcare industry.
  • Develop an environment that encourages innovative ideas and manages department goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate with leadership to propose new or revised standardization of criteria and measurements, improve workflows, coordinate activities, and resolve issues.
  • Manage department staffing plans, set goals and priorities to accelerate productivity, and maximize revenue.
  • Facilitate meetings with team members and leadership, assist with staff forecasting, and determine requirements based on historical performance and anticipated growth.
  • Conduct research, document, and communicate concerns, providing timely responses with potential resolutions.
  • Utilize metrics and analytics to track and assess performance and progress in integration of related functions.
  • Responsible for recruitment, hiring, retention, terminations, staff development programs, employee performance reviews, scheduling, timekeeping, and implementation of quality and continuous improvement practices.
  • Manage outcomes consistent with all Service Level Agreements (SLAs) in accordance with the financial goals of the company.
  • Provide metrics to leadership, enforce HIPAA compliance, and assist in special projects as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2-year experience in medical record review and/or medical insurance
  • Minimum of 5 years' leadership experience
  • Willingness to work East Coast hours
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Critical thinking skills, decisive judgement, and the ability to work with minimal to no supervision
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Discretion and confidentiality
  • Exceptional attention to detail, excellent written and verbal skills, excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Capable of handling multiple projects in a fast-paced, hyper-growth environment
  • Strong interpersonal and team building skills - ability to work with a diverse team and impart change across functional and business boundaries
