Key Responsibilities:
The primary objective of the Culinary Team Leader role is to support the Sous Chef in the preparation, seasoning, and cooking of daily specials and menu items.
This position involves supervising kitchen staff to ensure that food quality and standards are consistently upheld.
As a leader, you will provide strategic direction and inspire your team to align with the company's mission, values, and objectives.
Core Responsibilities Include:
- Meeting or exceeding industry standards for food preparation, service, and storage.
- Preparing meals according to established recipes consistently.
- Assigning tasks to kitchen staff as necessary.
- Ensuring food preparation is ready for the next shift.
- Completing daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning schedules accurately.
- Assisting in the scheduling and training of kitchen team members.
- Recording production and waste regularly.
- Collaborating with the Sous Chef on menu development and daily specials.
- Implementing safety protocols and regulations in the kitchen.
- Ensuring strict adherence to recipes and presentation standards.
- Monitoring inventory levels daily to maintain quality and availability.
- Supporting the Sous Chef in staff development and coaching.
- Maintaining cleanliness and organization in the kitchen environment.
- Conducting daily inspections of kitchen areas.
- Assisting in tracking food costs and managing monthly inventory.
Qualifications:
To excel in this role, candidates should possess a combination of experience and skills:
- Proven leadership abilities with a focus on achieving results through teamwork.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to motivate and engage team members effectively.
- Experience in managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Understanding of financial data and basic arithmetic functions.
- Capability to build and maintain relationships with clients and industry contacts.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
The Culinary Team Leader will oversee the following positions within the kitchen:
- Cook 1
- Stewards
Minimum Qualifications:
- Culinary degree or equivalent training in the Hospitality/Restaurant sector - required.
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a similar role - required.
- Experience in luxury brand environments - preferred.
- Food Safety Manager Certification - preferred or to be obtained within 30 days.
Work Environment:
The work environment is dynamic and may involve shared spaces with consistent noise levels.
Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines is essential.
Team members must be comfortable working in a kitchen setting with high temperatures and humidity.
Physical Demands:
Team members should be able to:
- Regularly lift up to 10 lbs and push, pull, or lift up to 50 lbs weekly.
- Travel by foot or other means, requiring periods of sitting, standing, and waiting.
