Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Volunteer Engagement Manager is responsible for overseeing the recruitment, management, and coordination of volunteers for Meals on Wheels of Sarasota. This role ensures that volunteers are adequately trained and scheduled for meal delivery routes and on-site meal preparation. Additionally, the manager plays a key role in organizing an annual volunteer appreciation event and serves as a representative of Meals on Wheels of Sarasota.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintains a cloud-based volunteer management system to ensure that volunteer records are up-to-date with accurate contact information, vehicle insurance, annual waivers, and activity documentation.
  • Schedules the appropriate number of volunteers for all shifts and delivery routes.
  • Tracks volunteer hours and mileage, providing weekly reports to the Program Manager and reconciling data monthly.
  • Supplies necessary background check information to the Program Manager.
  • Recruits new volunteers to support the organization's mission.
  • Prepares the volunteer pick-up area and communicates delivery instructions to each volunteer.
  • Ensures that all volunteers receive proper training and adhere to the Code of Conduct.
  • Collaborates with the Program Manager to organize an annual volunteer appreciation event.
  • Performs additional related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  2. Strong team player with the ability to thrive in a dynamic environment.
  3. Effective communicator, capable of conveying daily updates and requirements.
  4. Ability to work accurately and efficiently under pressure.
  5. Highly organized with a keen attention to detail.
  6. Experience in the food service industry is advantageous.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: A Bachelor's Degree is preferred.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: None.

SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. The role involves a typical office environment with frequent sitting, walking, and standing, and the ability to lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds. Frequent use of hand-eye coordination is required for operating office machinery. Strong oral and auditory communication skills are necessary for effective interpersonal interactions and communication through automated devices.
