Position Overview:

This role is essential in managing and executing all youth nutrition outreach initiatives at FeedMore WNY, particularly focusing on the Kids in the Kitchen Workshop.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the Kids in the Kitchen Workshop by utilizing MyPlate guidelines, conducting a minimum of six, 5-week sessions each quarter.
  • Coordinate and promote all nutrition outreach initiatives to schools and community organizations, including the Kids in the Kitchen program.
  • Deliver wellness presentations to students and partners, emphasizing the significance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle through various activities such as cooking classes, health fairs, and community visits.
  • Revise program materials as necessary, ensuring the use of culturally relevant resources to foster inclusivity.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with community programs, agencies, and participants.
  • Conduct site evaluations and inspections as required.
  • Provide administrative support to the department as needed.
  • Oversee the organization and cleanliness of supply and storage areas.
  • Ensure a safe and welcoming learning environment for all participants.
  • Administer pre- and post-assessments for each program site.
  • Package and distribute food items for participants to take home.
  • Transport workshop materials and equipment to various locations.
  • Support FeedMore WNY's mission to alleviate hunger among underserved populations by assisting with various mission-related tasks as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or current enrollment in Health and Human Services, Nutrition, or a related discipline.
  • Strong interpersonal, public relations, and customer service skills, with a focus on outreach and client engagement.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management abilities.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel).
  • Experience in teaching and public speaking.
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends as required.
  • Valid NYS driver's license and access to a vehicle.
  • Physical capability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Two years of experience in community health or nutrition, particularly with low-income populations, including internships or volunteer work.
  • Current ServSafe or equivalent food safety certification.
  • Registered Dietitian or Dietetic Technician, Registered.
  • Previous volunteer experience with FeedMore.
  • Background in childhood development or nutrition.
  • Enthusiastic, energetic, and creative mindset.
  • Aptitude for learning new software applications.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative.
  • Flexibility to adapt and grow within an expanding program.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and another language is a plus.

Compensation:

$16.00-$18.00 per hour.
