Job Summary

The Community Action Organization of Western New York Inc is seeking a qualified Youth Services Counselor to provide academic and character development activities for youth in a community center or school setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide after-school homework help, academic enrichment, and positive youth development activities for students in grades K-12.
  • Participate in high-energy and athletic activities with students.
  • Conduct academic enrichment lessons and promote the safety and well-being of students during the summer program.
  • Assist with life skills, promote and conduct recreational activities, and monitor classroom activity and field trips.
Requirements
  • High school diploma and prior experience working with children.
  • Preferred: At least one year of college-level work in a subject area, teaching or tutoring experience.
Language Skills
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret educational periodicals, professional journals, and technical procedures.
  • Ability to write reports and effectively present information and respond to questions from individuals and small groups.
  • Ability to compose and critique subject area essays.
Compensation

$17.00 per hour.
