The Aircraft Safety Compliance Officer specializes in ensuring that aviation maintenance practices adhere to established regulations and safety standards. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of aircraft maintenance and airworthiness, typically gained through experience as a certified mechanic.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting investigations related to enforcement and preparing detailed reports.
  • Participating in the examination of incidents and complaints.
  • Assisting in the re-evaluation of certified personnel and agencies.

At the FG-11 Level:

  • Monitoring compliance of aviation organizations and reporting any discrepancies.
  • Providing evaluations of air carriers and making recommendations for improvements.
  • Supporting the recertification processes for operators and agencies.

At the FG-12 Level:

  • Assessing mechanics and repair facilities for initial and ongoing certification.
  • Reviewing training programs for mechanics.
  • Inspecting aircraft and associated equipment to ensure airworthiness.

The role may involve additional inspections and advisory duties, focusing primarily on the maintenance and airworthiness of aircraft. Frequent travel and irregular hours may be required.

Qualifications:

  • U.S. Citizenship is mandatory.
  • Must possess an FAA Mechanic Certificate with airframe and power plant ratings.
  • Fluency in English is essential.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Medical Requirements:

Candidates must be physically capable of performing the duties associated with the Aircraft Safety Compliance Officer role safely and efficiently. This includes:

  • Good distant vision and the ability to read printed materials without strain.
  • Ability to hear conversational voices.
  • No physical conditions that would pose a hazard during flight.

Experience:

Applicants should demonstrate specialized experience in aircraft maintenance, including:

  • Experience with airframes, power plants, and aircraft systems.
  • Maintenance experience with aircraft weighing 12,500 pounds or less.
  • Recent work experience in a repair station or similar environment.
