About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Radiologic Technologist Extern to join our team at WVU Medicine. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide support for the delivery of medical imaging and interventional procedures, ensuring the highest level of patient care and satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support Cardiovascular Technologists in planning and executing imaging procedures, adhering to departmental standards.
  • Provide exceptional patient care, ensuring a positive experience from arrival to departure.
  • Report equipment failures promptly and maintain radiation safety.
  • Assist patients with preparation for procedures, including gowning and transfer to exam tables.
  • Coordinate department flow, maintaining effective communication with patient floors.
  • Assess patient needs and provide support for comfort and well-being.
  • Escort patients to and from procedure suites, assisting with arrival and departure.
  • Promote a team approach to providing high-quality patient care, interacting positively with technical, support, nursing, and medical staff.
  • Engage in problem-solving, crisis management, and systems implementation to enhance patient care.
  • Maintain confidentiality of protected health information.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited radiology school.
  • Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.
Working Environment

The work environment is clinical in nature, with occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, body fluids, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and risk of radiation. The noise level is usually moderate.
