About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Radiologic Technologist Extern to join our team at West Virginia University Hospitals. As a key member of our imaging department, you will play a vital role in supporting the delivery of high-quality medical imaging services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support Cardiovascular Technologists in planning and executing imaging procedures, ensuring adherence to departmental standards.
  • Provide exceptional patient care, including greeting patients, facilitating their department experience, and addressing their needs related to comfort.
  • Assist patients in preparing for procedures, including gowning and transferring to exam tables.
  • Coordinate inpatient department flow, maintaining effective communication between departments and patient floors.
  • Assess patient needs and provide support accordingly, promoting a positive and efficient patient experience.
  • Escort patients to and from procedure suites, assisting with arrival and departure from the department.
  • Promote a team approach to providing high-quality services, interacting positively with technical, support, nursing, residents, and medical staff.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all Protected Health Information.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Currently enrolled in an Accredited Radiology School.
  • Ability to stand for long periods, lift, push, or pull a minimum of 40 pounds, and differentiate various shades of gray.
Working Environment

The work environment is clinical by nature, with occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, body fluids, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level is usually moderate.

  • Ability to prioritize and deal with a variety of situations simultaneously.
