Position Overview

The role necessitates a Bachelor's degree alongside five years of experience in grant, contract, and program coordination. A Master's degree is highly regarded. Candidates with Oracle financial module certifications will be given preference. Strong interpersonal skills are essential as this position involves communication across various media with both internal and external stakeholders. Proficiency in reading and writing English is required. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, self-motivated, and committed to professional accountability. Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Adobe, and internet research skills is highly desirable. All tasks must align with Medix™ policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Collaborate with faculty and staff to prepare grant applications for both internal and external funding, contributing to the development of research plans and program objectives based on funding opportunity announcements. Ensure adherence to timelines, including proposal budget creation, budget revisions, interpretation of agency guidelines, sponsor interactions, timeline management, file organization, regulatory compliance, and other facets of proposal development and submission.

2. Oversee the administrative management of multiple large or complex grant program applications and awarded projects within the School of Nursing.

3. Organize and monitor Oracle workflows, manage project accounts, and generate monthly budget analyses.

4. Assist the Director in managing pre-award activities for multiple departmental sponsored programs, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, identifying research opportunities for faculty, and promptly notifying the Director of any issues or exceptions impacting grant proposals or awards.

5. Facilitate compliance with University, School of Nursing, and sponsor policies, program announcements, and procedures.

6. Manage budgeting, networking, technical training, grant and report review, and submission. Conduct complex financial analyses and revenue projects, providing recommendations on budget line items.

7. Support the Director in the preparation of financial and annual reports.

8. Uphold ethical conduct as a fundamental expectation for all community members. Employees must adhere to the standards of behavior outlined in the Medix™ Code of Conduct, completing the required online training upon hire. Inconsistent behaviors may lead to appropriate consequences.

9. Perform additional related duties as assigned to support the objectives of the School of Nursing.

10. Supervise assigned staff engaged in pre-award activities.

Essential Qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience with NIH Grants Post Award
  • Proficient in Excel
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience in budget negotiation

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with IRAP and Oracle systems

Work Schedule:

Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM (CST)
