Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to join our team as a Bilingual School Success Program Assistant. This role will play a critical part in supporting the academic and personal growth of our students, particularly those from Latin American backgrounds.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement comprehensive programs to promote student achievement and school attendance, working closely with middle school students, school site staff, parents, and community service providers.
  • Provide one-on-one coaching and mentoring to Spanish-speaking students, as well as facilitating student groups and school support initiatives.
  • Monitor and evaluate student academic progress, identifying areas of need and developing strategies to support student success.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, students, and staff, maintaining confidentiality and providing clear information about school policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with administrators, MPS staff, parents, students, and community service providers to develop and implement procedures and agreements that promote improved student performance.
  • Administer MPS school success programs, developing and implementing improvement plans that meet MPS goals and result in high-achieving learning environments for all students.
  • Work with staff to identify professional development needs, planning and facilitating programs that improve staff effectiveness and align with instructional goals.
  • Evaluate students using a variety of assessment tools, providing guidance and support to ensure student success.
  • Investigate and resolve complaints, responding to inquiries about MPS policy, procedures, resources, and processes.
  • Mediate conflicts and provide advocacy services for students and families, promoting a positive and inclusive school environment.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in education, social service, psychology, or a related field.
  • Three years of demonstrated educational support experience in an urban educational environment, including group facilitation and conflict resolution.
  • Bilingual and biliterate in Spanish and English.
  • Culturally competent in Latin American culture.
  • Knowledge of applicable policies, procedures, and regulations covering specific areas of assignment.
  • Understanding of public education issues, procedures, and practices that influence school engagement for youth.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse racial and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop effective solutions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, and families.
Working Environment

This role will be performed in a classroom and general office environment, with moderate physical requirements. The ideal candidate will be able to work effectively in a fast-paced urban educational setting, with a strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
