Q Center is seeking a dedicated Full-Time Culinary Specialist II to enhance our culinary team.

Position Summary

The Culinary Specialist II plays a crucial role in the preparation of all food items, adhering to standardized recipes for various dining experiences, including Guest Dining, Banquets, and Energy Hubs. This position emphasizes maintaining the highest standards to create visually appealing and delicious dishes. Additionally, the Culinary Specialist II is responsible for upholding cleanliness, sanitation, and safety in the kitchen and work areas, while striving to minimize waste and optimize cost-effectiveness.

Work Schedule

The working hours for this role are from 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM, with a flexible schedule that includes varying days throughout the week and weekends.

Qualifications

To be considered for this role, candidates should possess:

  • A completed High School diploma or GED, with experience in a hotel culinary environment preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a high-volume culinary setting.
  • A valid Food Handler certification or equivalent.
  • The ability to read and execute standardized recipes.
Physical Demands

The role may require:

  • Flexibility to work long hours as needed.
  • Medium physical work, including the ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or 20 pounds frequently.
  • Standing for the duration of the shift.
  • Adapting to temperature variations in both hot and cold environments.
Core Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Demonstrating attentiveness, friendliness, and courtesy towards guests and colleagues.
  • Preparing high-quality food items in accordance with standardized recipe cards to meet production and service schedules.
  • Possessing a working knowledge of batch and banquet production.
  • Managing a shift independently without direct supervision.
  • Exhibiting intermediate knife skills for fruits, vegetables, and proteins.
  • Assisting in the transportation and presentation of banquet food.
  • Executing safe and effective hot and cold food preparation techniques.
  • Understanding proper cooking methods, including roasting, grilling, and frying.
  • Collaborating with the Supervisor to enhance skills in soup and sauce preparation.
  • Recognizing quality standards for fresh produce, fish, dairy, and meat products.
  • Utilizing knowledge of herbs and spices appropriately.
  • Completing food temperature logs and collecting food samples as needed.
  • Preparing and presenting buffet items according to established standards.
  • Understanding the operation of various action stations.
  • Ensuring proper storage and rotation of food products and ingredients.
  • Comprehending intermediate cooking techniques.
  • Breaking down buffets and kitchen lines, ensuring proper storage of food and equipment.
  • Maintaining a clean and sanitary work area, including countertops, utensils, equipment, and refrigeration, in compliance with local health regulations.
